How to choose a laptop bag
A good laptop bag protects your investment from knocks, spills and theft, and makes carrying it comfortable. A few measurements and features decide which bag suits you.
Match the screen size
Laptop bags are sized by screen size, such as 14", 15.6" or 17.3". Pick the size that matches your laptop, leaving a little room but not so much that it slides around. A laptop that is too big for the bag will not close properly.
Backpack, briefcase or sleeve
Backpacks spread the weight and suit commuting and students. Briefcases and messenger bags look professional for meetings. A slim sleeve protects the laptop inside another bag, and is the lightest option.
Protection and security
Look for padded compartments, a raised base that keeps the laptop off the ground and water-resistant fabric. Hidden or lockable zips and back-facing pockets make theft harder in busy places.
Space for the extras
Check for room for a charger, mouse, tablet, water bottle and documents, and padded straps for comfort on longer carries.
