How to choose a cellphone
The best phone is the one that fits your budget and how you use it. Camera, battery life, storage and software support matter more than a headline spec sheet.
Budget and what you need
Entry-level phones handle calls, messaging, social media and browsing. Mid-range phones add better cameras, faster performance and larger screens. Premium models offer the best cameras and longest update support.
Storage and memory
64GB is a minimum today, and 128GB or more is better if you take lots of photos and video or install many apps. 4GB of RAM is enough for basics, with 6 to 8GB giving smoother multitasking.
Battery and charging
A battery of 4,500mAh or more usually lasts a full day. Fast charging helps top up quickly, and the charger may or may not be included, so check the listing.
Network support
Make sure the phone supports 4G or 5G on the networks you use, and check whether it is unlocked and ready for any SIM card.
